Idabel is located in the Southeast corner of Oklahoma. While Idabel is in a tourist area known as Kiamichi Country, it is mostly recognized as the "Dogwood Capital of Oklahoma," where springtime tours display the area's magnificent blooming dogwood trees. The Museum of the Red River proudly boasts Native Arts from Oklahoma and all over the world, as well as a dinosaur skeleton that was once discovered in the area. The Red Slough Wildlife Management area consists of nearly 6,000 acres of wetlands and marshes and almost 300 species of birds, including the hard to find wood stork and white ibis.
